Medford, OR (December 9, 2019) —The Oregon Institute of Technology Board of Trustees recently appointed Jessica Gomez, founder and CEO of Medford-based Rogue Valley Microdevices, as new Board Chair.
Ms. Gomez has been on the Board since its inception. She previously served as Vice Chair under Dr. Lisa Graham, who served as Chair of the Board since 2014.
As an advocate for STEM, Jessica hopes to further the mission of higher education in Oregon.
“The students attending our university today will be the business leaders, engineers, and scientists of tomorrow”, said Gomez. “They will be taking on many of the worlds’ challenges, such as meeting an increased global demand for energy while developing new and innovative ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”
Ms. Gomez is also passionate about the many educational opportunities Oregon Tech has to offer in the field of healthcare.
“It is imperative that our university continues to invest in providing the world-class educational options needed to meet our growing demand for skilled health care providers. I am excited to support our students as they learn the skills needed to become the next generation of leaders,” said Gomez.
Oregon Tech, long thought of as the Industries University by many business leaders, is the only Polytechnic institution in Oregon. The Oregon Tech Board of Trustees is comprised of 14 individuals with varying backgrounds, from entrepreneurs and elected officials to CEOs, consultants and managers. The Board includes one student, faculty and staff member of the University, and the University President as ex-officio, non-voting member. The voting members were nominated by the Governor and approved by the Senate.
Ms. Gomez is dedicated to her work through the Board of Trustees. The Board's role is to approve the University's mission, programs, budgets and strategies.
